“I am outraged. I am outraged by the systemic racism in this country. I am outraged by an insidious police department culture that has led to countless Black lives lost. I am outraged by a school system that taught me that racism and inequality were things of the past. I am outraged by the white people in this country who refuse to open their eyes and recognize the privilege they experience because of their skin color.
To this point in my career, I’ve always resorted to playing it safe when speaking out on social or political issues that are important to me for fear of judgment or alienating prospective fans, but I am done walking on eggshells.
Silence on this issue will only allow racist violent acts to continue. This song is me speaking out the best way I know how. This song is my battle cry. I stand with Black lives and against racial injustice and inequality. Enough is enough!”
